How can I automatically update events in subscribers' calendars after they subscribe?

Last updated July 27, 2026

This is exactly what AddEvent's subscription calendars are designed for. When someone subscribes to your AddEvent calendar, their calendar app creates a live connection to your calendar feed. Any event you add, edit, or remove syncs to all subscribers automatically.

How updates reach subscribers

When you make a change in AddEvent - reschedule an event, add a new session, fix a typo in the description, cancel an event - the change is reflected in your calendar feed immediately. Subscribers' calendar apps poll that feed on their regular schedule (typically every few hours for Apple and Outlook; every 12-24 hours for Google Calendar) and apply any changes.

What updates automatically

  • New events you add appear in all subscribers' calendars
  • Event title, date, time, location, and description changes sync across
  • Cancelled events are removed from subscribers' calendars

Limitations to know

  • You cannot push an instant update to all subscribers - sync timing depends on each subscriber's calendar app
  • Google Calendar is the slowest (12-24 hours); for urgent changes, a manual refresh is available
  • Subscribers can unsubscribe from within their own calendar app at any time

The practical workflow

  1. Create a subscription calendar in AddEvent
  2. Share the Follow Calendar button or link with your audience
  3. They subscribe once - all current and future events are delivered automatically
  4. You manage your calendar in AddEvent; subscribers never need to take action again
