How can attendees change or cancel their RSVP after registering?

Last updated October 5, 2026

AddEvent allows attendees to update their own RSVP using the change-response link included in their RSVP confirmation and reminder emails. Event organizers can also manage attendee responses manually from the AddEvent dashboard.

How attendees can update their own response

  1. Open the RSVP confirmation or reminder email
  2. Click the link to change the RSVP response
  3. Select a new response (Yes / Maybe / No)
  4. Submit the updated response
The attendee’s response will automatically be updated in the event’s attendee list.

How organizers can update an attendee's response

  1. Go to your RSVP event in the AddEvent dashboard
  2. Open the attendee list
  3. Find the attendee and update their response (Yes / Maybe / No) manually
  4. You can also delete an attendee record entirely if needed

Recommended workflow when an attendee wants to change their RSVP

Attendees should use the change-response link included in their RSVP confirmation or reminder email.

You can also include a reply-to email address in your RSVP emails so attendees can contact you directly if they cannot find the link or need additional assistance. The event organizer can then update the attendee’s response manually from the dashboard.

On paid plans, you can set a custom reply-to address in your RSVP email settings so replies go directly to you or your events team.

Self-service cancellation

Attendees can use the change-response link in their confirmation or reminder email to change their RSVP to No. This allows them to cancel their attendance without needing the event organizer to update the response manually.

Event organizers can still update or delete attendee records directly from the AddEvent dashboard when necessary.

Seat limits and capacity

If your event has a seat limit, an attendee changing their response from Yes to No may make the seat available again. Deleting an attendee record from the dashboard will also free up the seat, allowing another person to register.
