How do I add an Add to Calendar link to an email in ActiveCampaign?
Adding an Add to Calendar link to ActiveCampaign emails is a copy-paste process - copy the link from AddEvent and insert it as a hyperlink or button in your email template.
Step-by-step (drag-and-drop editor)
- In your AddEvent dashboard, open your event and go to Sharing
- Copy the Add to Calendar link - the universal link lets each recipient choose their calendar app (Google, Apple, Outlook, Yahoo)
- In ActiveCampaign, open your campaign or automation email in the drag-and-drop editor
- To add a text link: highlight the text you want to link (e.g. "Add to Calendar"), click the link icon in the toolbar, and paste the AddEvent URL
- To add a button: drag a Button block into your email, set the label to "Add to Calendar", and paste the AddEvent URL as the button link
- Send a test email to confirm the link works
Using the HTML editor
If you are using ActiveCampaign's HTML editor, add a standard anchor tag: <a href="YOUR_ADDEVENT_URL">Add to Calendar</a>
For personalized events (Dynamic Add to Calendar)
If each contact has a unique appointment date or time, use AddEvent's Dynamic Add to Calendar links. Construct the AddEvent URL with event parameters and populate them using ActiveCampaign's personalization tags (e.g. %FIRSTNAME%, custom fields). This lets each recipient receive a calendar link for their specific event. Requires the AddEvent Enterprise plan.
ActiveCampaign link tracking
ActiveCampaign wraps all tracked links with its own click-tracking URL. AddEvent links work correctly through this wrapping - the redirect passes through and opens the calendar picker as expected.
Tips
- Place the Add to Calendar link near the top of the email where it is most visible
- Include the link in both your initial campaign and any follow-up automations
- For recurring webinar or workshop series, use the same AddEvent link in all emails in the automation
