DESCRIPTION:
Join us for a conversation with Marcelo Bonta, President of Bonta Consulting, LLC. Some of you will be familiar with Marcelo from The Corps Network's 2020 National Conference, where he led a memorable plenary session on "Supporting Equity Work in Environmental Organizations."
Marcelo will explore the question, “What Does It Mean to Have an Anti-Racist Conservation Movement?” Marcelo will examine why Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is important to environmental and conservation organizations. Why is this a movement, and what will it take to raise awareness and commitment? What is the importance of a culture change and what does he mean by a "growth mindset"?
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION:
Please note that the Town Hall will include an interactive element. We will ask Corps to join the conversation.
See below for questions prepared by Marcelo and Capri St.Vil, The Corps Network's Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. We encourage you to consider these questions; we appreciate your willingness to share your thoughts during our call.
– Why is EDI important to environmental/conservation organizations?
– Let’s take a look at organizational culture, and the role that it plays in this movement. Think about your organizational culture when looking at racial equity. Bring your thoughts to the discussion.
– How can we raise awareness and commitment as well as begin a culture change?
– Look within and think about what you have been doing that will effectively advance equity, diversity, and inclusion at your organization. What are some of the things that you are doing that you now realize that you will have to change?
– What are some of your obstacles to EDI Progress?
