About the Event

The philanthropic community has been at the forefront of pioneering innovation to ensure access to education and work opportunities for all at a moment of polycrisis.

Investing in education-to-work pathways that are inclusive to all is not only a humanitarian essential, it is smart economics with long-term social returns. While education and training opportunities have expanded, the pathways from learning to meaningful work, whether through formal employment, self-employment, entrepreneurship, or freelance opportunities, remain fragmented and inconsistent. Strategic investment in these pathways is critical to unlocking potential, reducing dependency, and generating long-term economic and social impact.

This workshop will convene leading local and international stakeholders to explore how philanthropic investment can fuel skills development, education, and workforce readiness as key pathways to economic empowerment.

Designed to be participatory and solutions-oriented, the event will showcase best practice and explore new ways to expand and scale pathways from education to work. Participants will leave with actionable ideas and strategies—ranging from program design to cross-sector partnerships—that can drive measurable impact and advance access to dignified and sustainable work

This event is hosted by Circle and Na’amal. Circle is a partnership between Philanthropy Age and the Pearl Initiative, with support from the Gates Foundation.

Speakers will include:
Lorraine Charles - founder of Na’amal, which empowers refugees and other under-resourced communities by equipping them with marketable skills and with in-demand digital skills required in the global labour market.

Marc Alan Sperber - assistant director programme design and development, Education for Humanity, Arizona State University, which has a long track record supporting refugee education through both global and local initiatives.
