Community Intensive: Monologue Training

You have only minutes in a monologue to captivate an audience. Join a workshop that will stretch and sharpen your monologue skills. A monologue is defined as an uninterrupted speech given from a character in either a solo moment or a larger scene to another character(s) on stage. Bring a printed copy of a monologue of your choice to the workshop. Select one that feels comfortable and vital to you. We will explore script analysis and theater exercises which will encourage a depth of creativity and confidence in your continued acting journey. 
 
Note for Intensive: Please be aware of the play the monologue comes from—preferably reading the play prior to the workshop. No need to have the monologue memorized but do be familiar with it to work on it.

Ronda Hewitt (she/her) graduated from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and has a teaching degree from the University of Illinois. She co-founded both Fourth Monkey Theater Ensemble in San Francisco and Late Night Series, now part of the MFA in Acting program at Florida State University. Ronda has acted, directed and produced over 100 plays. She is a proud retired member of Actors' Equity Association. She was the lead in the independent film Facade which won the Jury Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival. Live Arts is familiar ground as Ronda was on staff for over 10 years and acted in many plays here. Ronda is in her 4th year teaching Stretch Technique at Live Arts. She has trained in masterclasses with mentors including Jose Quintero, Frank Galati, Victoria Rue, Craig Slaight, Lynne Soffer, and Live Arts' Carol Pedersen.
