Wednesday, March 17, 9:00am - 10:00am (EDT)
Regular presenters Eric Priezkalns and Lee Scargall talk to Brendan Cleary, CEO of Cellusys, about the use of signals exploits to leak network information to bad actors, and what should be done to close the gaps in network security.
The network signals that allow different networks to 'talk' to each other are not innately secure, leading to the evolution of skilled criminals and other hackers who exploit the weaknesses for all manner of frauds and abuses. Documented examples include raids on banks and cryptocurrency wallets, corporate espionage, and governments monitoring the movements of individuals as they travel.
So much commerce and so much confidential information is transmitted across networks that it is now essential to have secure firewalls that protect the signals used to manage calls, messages and other network activities. However, many telcos still have gaps in their signals security. Nor can telcos rely on newer signals technology like Diameter to be completely safe, as ingenious and devious minds have also found ways to subvert it too.
Brendan is an Irishman who leads a company headquartered in Ireland, so this show is also another excuse to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!
