Thursday, October 15, 11:30am - 12:30pm (EDT)
Numerous IoT-related security regulations have emerged in the United States and Europe. In the US, examples include bill SB-327, enacted in California to create guidelines for the security of connected devices, and the NISTIR 8259A IoT Device Cybersecurity Capability Core Baseline. In Europe, GDPR and the ETSI EN 303 645 are also influencing security standards definition for consumer IoT products. Inevitably, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), across all applications and end markets, will need to become familiar with key pieces of legislation and regulations. OEMs will also need to explore strategies for implementing security features and functionality during the earliest phases of the design cycle to be able to effectively mitigate security threats and vulnerabilities throughout the IoT device lifecycle. This panel will discuss some of the IoT security laws and regulations you should know about and how to leverage the latest technology to manage the very security threats that the regulations are designed to combat.
