A guide to substantive allyship for Trans rights and how to do better with Nathan Rodriguez of Trans Equity Coalition Please join us on Thursday, June 18 from 2:30 - 4:00pm on Zoom for a 1.5 hour session.
In a moment in which trans rights are increasingly under unprecedented attacks, the role of allies has never been more critical. TEC’s Executive Director, Nathan Rodriguez (he/him), joins Gathering Ground to lead a powerful session on true and effective allyship, discussing ways in which organizations and individuals can create space for trans people to tell and lead their own stories. Participants will leave with concrete tools, resources, and strategies to effectively show up as equitable partners in the fight for trans equity.
About Nathan:
Nathan is a Transgender man who has been transitioning since 2011. He achieved his BA from Montclair State University with a major in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in 2013, and has been working professionally in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion space for over a decade. A seasoned public speaker, Nathan has given numerous impactful speeches everywhere from Ivy League Schools to the state house in Trenton and many more. Currently, Nathan is a board member for the LGBT+ Resource Group of a Fortune 100 company where he continues to advocate and make an impact on the cultural competency in the corporate sphere. Outside of his T+ advocacy work, Nathan is a small business owner, running the dirty soda pop-up Spooky Dooky that vends dairy-free drinks all over South Jersey, and also a published author for several short stories and a novel entitled "The Soulmate Project." He is married to his partner Franni of 17 years, and together they raise one awesome kid and 3 fur babies.
