Please join us for our virtual cityCURRENT signature speaker series event on Friday, May 5, featuring Dr. Thom Mayer, the Medical Director for the NFL Players Association, Executive Vice President of Leadership for LogixHealth, Founder of BestPractices, Inc., and Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at George Washington University and Senior Lecturing Fellow at Duke University.

Dr. Mayer is one of the most widely sought speakers on trauma and emergency care, pediatric emergency care, EMS/disaster medicine, and sports medicine. His work in these areas has changed the very fabric of patient care. Doctor Mayer founded the emergency physician group Best Practices, based at one of the country’s busiest and most prestigious cardiac centers. He is an expert in cardiovascular disease, ranging from cardiac arrest and aortic dissection to commotio cordis. In 2009, he led the work which demanded that all NFL teams have emergency action plans or EAPs, which paid off last year when a player was successfully resuscitated during an NFL game. Dr. Mayer will be sharing many lessons learned and the importance of being prepared to respond to emergencies, as individuals, an organization and a community.
