Thursday, October 2, 2:30pm - 4:00pm (EDT)
October's briefing focuses on Participatory Budgeting Project with Nisha Thompson. Please join us on Thursday, October 2 from 2:30 - 4:00pm on Zoom for a 90-minute Briefing.
Led by Nisha Thomspon (Participatory Budgeting Project), this Briefing will break down what participatory budgeting is - a democratic process that allows communities to directly decide how to spend part of a public budget - and how community members can work towards making public budgets more equitable and effective.
About Nisha Thompson:
Nisha Thompson is the NJ Advocacy Manager for Participatory Budgeting Project working on their PB Seeds program. The PB Seeds program connects and equips leaders and advocates across New Jersey with knowledge, tools, and connections in order to advocate for PB in their communities. I’m a community organizer with 20 years experience building communities on the ground and online, in the US and India; bringing together multiple stakeholders, building alliances, writing policy, campaigning, running events, training, and public speaking all to further open data, better governance, and transparency. I believe when all people are actively, inclusively and equitably participating in governance, using all the tools available, that is when true change comes.
