A value system that recognizes the dignity and worth of all people. While at Dismas, residents often reconnect and rebuild relationships with their own family members as well.

Dismas House of Nashville is a 501(c)(3) founded in 1974 by Father Jack Hickey with help from the Vanderbilt Prison Project to provide a safe place for formerly incarcerated men to find the supportive services needed to re-enter society successfully. In April 2020 Dismas House expanded from an 8-bed house to a 72-bed campus. Our new campus includes 16 transitional housing units for residents needing affordable housing with the benefit of staying in the Dismas community with ongoing support services. Since expanding, Dismas House, is now one of the largest reentry programs of its type in Tennessee and has the capacity to serve over 175 residents per year. As a Tennessee reentry program provider, it is our vision to become a national model for reentry success by ensuring our residents become self-sufficient, contributing members of society.
