3GV Workshop: Effective Communication, or “ What’s Normal Anyway?”
Maya Angelou said,
“People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
The first few minutes of a conversation set the stage for whether that conversation will end well or disastrously. This workshop will present various ways a person, couple, or team leader can organize information to address an issue that needs resolution. We will explore the use of “I-statements,” how to describe the issue clearly, how the issue affects you, and how to stay out of the “blame” game.
Healthy communication is not easy, but with practice, we can contribute to a kinder, gentler connection with others.
About Rev. Dr. Gail Atchison
Dr. Gail works as a life coach with the LGBTQ community, couples, families, and individuals dealing with grief, loss, and addictions. She holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology and Human Behavior, a postdoctoral certification in Trauma, a master’s degree in Divinity, a master’s in Psychology, and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Pre-Law. She is an ordained minister in the MCC Church. Dr. Gail lives in Lewes with her dog, Bailey, and is in private practice.
