Wednesday, November 19, 1:00pm - 2:00pm (EST)
Speaker Information:
Allison Whalen (she/her) is the founder and CEO of Parentaly, a comprehensive program offered as an employee benefit to support employees and businesses through parental leave transitions. Allison started Parentaly after she returned to work from parental leave and found her piece of the business in disarray and her direct reports unhappy. After surveying her peers, she found the #1 complaint and reason for attrition after parental leave was due to career disruption caused by their time away from work. Allison has an MBA from Wharton and previously led the enterprise sales team at Managed by Q, which was acquired by WeWork.
Event Description:
Despite the growing availability of paid leave, many companies still struggle to implement policies in a way that supports both business continuity and career progression - especially for women. In this session, Parentaly CEO Allison Whalen will break down the top five takeaways from Parentaly’s research about what nearly 3,000 women shared about the parental leave experience at their organizations.
She’ll address what employees worry about most before going on leave (hint: it’s not childcare), the ripple effects on teams and managers, and why one-third of new parents leave their jobs within 18 months. Expect practical guidance for both expecting parents and their managers on how to make the leave transition a success - for the individual and the organization.
