Live from the factory floor and showroom in the foothills of Bogotá, Colombia, The Housing Innovation Collaborative's Rapid Shelter Innovation Showcase presents "The Double Latte Chalet", the world's first house made of coffee - a two-story, 250 square foot tiny home.
Using previously thrown-away coffee husk material, a wasteful byproduct of coffee production in Colombia, the social housing manufacturer, Woodpecker WPC, is literally brewing a new type of coffee product – combining the fibrous strength qualities of coffee husks grinded together with the durable qualities of 100% recycled plastic polymer to serve up a new modular building system that is equal parts strong, long-lasting, eco-friendly, rapidly deployable, and affordable - bringing millions more within reach of high-quality housing options. Presented by Alejandro Franco, CEO of Woodpecker WPC, a subsidiary Maeco SAS (a major Colombian construction company).
