Book Club Introductory Meeting

If you are curious about the real Russian opposition, want to discover talented Russian authors whose works are banned in Putin’s Russia, and want to learn more about Russian people living in exile or under repression, we invite you to join the opening evening of "Malmo Against the War" Book Club meeting!

What to expect at our first meeting:
— Introduction to the concept of the book club and our future plans
— A short presentation of the book and its author
— A few selected readings from the text itself
— Informal discussion, tea, and conversation

And no worries — you do NOT have to read the book before coming.

We know everyone is busy, so we designed the format to be accessible even if you are completely new to the topic. The idea is not to test whether you read the book, but to introduce you to authors, stories, and discussions that might make you want to continue reading afterwards.

 Our first book:
Elena Kostyuchenko — I Love Russia.
This book is a collection of reportage and personal stories about people who often remain invisible in contemporary Russia: outsiders, marginalised communities, people living through repression, violence, and war.
Through deeply personal narratives, the book explores modern Russian society, the war against Ukraine, and the experience of people trying to survive within systems of fear, inequality, and political pressure.
