National Energy System Map (NESM): driving the path to net zero
NESM is the first project bringing together all of Britain’s mainland gas and electricity networks to build a detailed digital map of the energy system. It has pioneered new data sharing agreements between the networks and brought with it the standardisation of data, overcoming a key obstacle to net zero and putting active measures in place to meet system transition targets. The map will provide customers with information about energy network assets, their locations and ownership, supporting investment decisions, local flexibility markets and the connection of new renewable energy. Find out how to use the map and how it could benefit your organisation.

13:05 iDentify: an app which exploits AI Recognition technology to crowdsource data
iDentify is a soon to be released app which will be used by installers of EV chargers, heat pumps and microgeneration, a welcome replacement to the paper forms completed and sent the DNO following an installation. With a built in fuse size calculator and AI recognition to analyse cableheads, the app determines the site readiness for the new LCT device. With a slick process and smartphone app, the benefits are improving the safety risk to installers and customers, while crowdsourcing LCT and DNO asset data. The process and app development sets a standard for the future with its ground breaking collaboration, having been developed and tested through steering committees and working groups involving Britain’s DNOs, installers and relevant stakeholders.

13:20 Data Triage: facilitating the move to open data
Find out about this ground-breaking online tool which provides a single platform for all data requests for the UK’s gas and electricity network operators. You will be walked through the capabilities of the tool, gain insights into how others are using it and learn about the potential benefits it can bring to the supply chain. You will also have a chance to feed back what new functionality you would like to see added to Data Triage in the coming year.
