The history of the Left is a series of failures, blood and misery—and yet, in the present, socialism is considered trendy and idealistic, particularly among the youth. On the other end, the Right has reared its ugly head in trying to counter the Left, and we have an increasingly popular new Right that is increasingly nationalistic and authoritarian. But why is it that these sets of ideas are only growing in popularity, and have become the two predominant political forces in today’s culture? Why do bad ideas have so much staying power? And what will it take to overturn their momentum in the culture?
