DESCRIPTION:Black Creek Park is a hidden gem for year-round birding in the Birmingham area. Beautiful natural areas are set among pavilions and well-maintained ball fields. Open areas among the shady woodlands offer a variety of birding opportunities. From a small pond to a level\, accessible Rails-to-Trails\, fine-gravel greenway that runs along Black Creek\, this two-mile hike (for those who wish to walk rather than bike with the group the same day) will feature year-round residents such as woodpeckers and phoebes to warblers and swallows arriving during the early period of spring migration. Ample parking is available\, but carpools are recommended. Benches are available about every mile along the trail. Picnic pavilions are available for a post-walk lunch or snack.\n\nTRAVEL INFORMATION : Black Creek Park is just off US Highway 31 in Fultondale. GPS coordinates are shown below for the parking lot next. For those participating in the biking event\, please register under that field trip.
