We are excited to launch a new three-part webinar series exploring the “research story” behind real hereditary GI cancer projects. Across the series, experts in gastroenterology, genetic counseling, and academic research will share how research ideas develop, evolve, and move forward in practice.

Taking place on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 5 pm ET / 2 pm PT, Webinar 1, will feature Timothy Yen, MD, a gastroenterologist at Loma Linda University and a member of the CGA-IGC Research Committee.

His presentation, “Familial Colorectal Cancer Risk Among Those with Advanced Colorectal Polyps,” will explore how the everyday burden of managing pathology results has helped reveal a critical research gap in hereditary GI cancer.  Dr. Yen will discuss familial colorectal cancer risk, guideline recommendations for advanced polyps, and evidence on adherence to family screening. He will also highlight how quality improvement and implementation science tools, including the Ishikawa diagram, can help uncover why gaps in care exist and how to address them.
