Quick Facts: St. Thomas More was a lawyer elected to King Henry VIII in 1504. He served the king as a close advisor. However, when Henry VIII wanted to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon, More did not support the king's choice to defy the Pope and control the Church. More was then imprisoned in the Tower of London for 15 months. He was executed in 1535 and canonized in 1935.
