Food security, nutrition and sustainable agriculture are central to the 2030 Agenda and are crucial for achieving all of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. However, the world is not on track to achieving these goals, especially SDG2 on Zero Hunger. There is, therefore, an urgent need to accelerate action by all stakeholders to transform our food taking into account interlinkages between SDG2 and other SDGs to mitigate trade-offs and maximize synergies. The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) – the UN’s foremost inclusive international and intergovernmental platform for all stakeholders to work together to ensure food security and nutrition for all – supports the achievement of global food security and nutrition targets by driving global policy convergence work in an inclusive, evidence-based model of consensus-building. The session will showcase how CFS is working to drive progress on SDG2, including through its recently-endorsed Voluntary Guidelines on Food Systems and Nutrition and Policy Recommendations on Agroecological and Other Innovative Approaches.
