Supporting the Supporters: Caring for Families and Supportive Others Through the Treatment Process
Presented by Lindsey Budd, LMFT
Abstract:
Eating disorders impact not only the individual but also their entire support system. Families and loved ones often experience confusion, helplessness, and emotional distress as they navigate the complexities of the recovery process. This presentation will explore the critical role of families and supportive others in fostering sustainable recovery from eating disorders. Additionally, it will explore evidence-informed strategies to enhance family engagement, deliver targeted psychoeducation, and facilitate supportive interventions that align with treatment goals across levels of care.
