Present the progress made on an initiative to conserve the 5 Great Forests of Mesoamerica and the shared vision among the governments of the region on biodiversity conservation and the fight to mitigate and adapt to climate change. This vision includes a joint effort to address the biggest threat in Mesoamerica — illegal cattle ranching. Governments will commit to align economic incentives in their countries to drive forest conservation and develop new economic models based on alternatives to ranching. The Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), will also discuss their long-term vision for this initiative and Mesoamerica.
