The next group will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. This meeting will be held by virtual format via Zoom.

The topic for this session is “Overcoming Age Discrimination” presented by Ken Sher, President of Sher Coaching. Age discrimination is described as “treating an applicant or employee less favorably because of his or her age. The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) forbids age discrimination against people who are age 40 or older.” So, it’s illegal to not offer a job because of age... but we all know that the reality is that it happens. But the reality, also, is that it’s still possible, and likely, that you will find an opportunity based on your great knowledge and experience that you’ve gained throughout your career... it just might take a little longer.

This talk will focus on helping you minimize the chance that age will be an issue, how to identify when the hidden objection of age comes up and how to handle it including:

> when your age may be an issue
> the “TRUST Success Model” can help you overcome any challenges
> to position yourself as the right person for the job
> to do to take age out of the equation
> to include... and not include... in your marketing materials and interview answers

This group is offered free of charge and are open to the entire community. Funding for this program is provided by grants from The Arnold A. Schwartz Foundation, Affinity Federal Credit Union and Magyar Bank. Registration is required to receive the Zoom invitation and to be admitted to the group.
