As I delved into this series\, I began to question my choice of water as a subject. Beyond its visual appeal\, I found a personal connection tied to a desire for inclusion.\n \nGrowing up\, I yearned to partake in water activities\, feeling a sense of envy towards those who could freely enjoy them. Through my art\, I sought to insert myself into these aquatic environments\, infusing them with the presence of black figures. Yet\, even amidst the beauty of these scenes\, the figures often stand alone in the center of the canvas\, reflecting the sense of 'the odd one out' that resonates with my own experiences of navigating diverse spaces.\n \nEmploying unconventional tools such as large squidgy implements and dampened paper towels\, I sculpted layers of paint to evoke the serene calmness of placid waters or the turbulent energy of rushing currents.
