Thursday, December 12, 1:00pm - 1:45pm (EST)
Join us for our latest free and online-only Live Event where Dr. Joel Sadavoy of Mount Sinai Hospital and the University of Toronto will join our own Dr. Anthony Levinson for a discussion about depression and dementia.
Depression is itself a mood disorder that can affect a person’s thoughts, behaviours, feelings, and sense of well-being. There are drug and non-drug treatments available for persons with dementia and depression.
We examine depression in our iGeriCare lesson 'Apathy, Depression, and Anxiety in Dementia'. If you have the time, we encourage everyone to review this lesson beforehand - https://igericare.healthhq.ca/lessons/apathy-depression-and-anxiety-in-dementia
Dr. Sadavoy has led the development of apps to provide support to family and professional caregivers of persons living with dementia. ‘Dementia Talk’ is a mobile app that helps caregivers respond to challenging behaviours at home. Similarly, ‘Dementia Advisor’ helps caregivers learn effective coping skills and get expert coaching through scenario-based training.
You can learn more and download both at https://www.dementiacarers.ca/learning-resources/
The first 15 minutes will be set aside for an expert discussion and will be followed by a Q&A period.
Don't worry if you can't make it, all of our events are archived for later viewing on iGeriCare's Events page - https://igericare.healthhq.ca/events
