SUMMARY:Regulating Transport on Demand in the EU
DESCRIPTION:On Monday 6 December at 15:30 CET\, CERRE will host an event to debate the outcomes of its latest Mobility report “Transport on Demand: ‘How to regulate ride-hailing in the EU?’”.\n\nThe new report builds on previous CERRE reports on the regulation of urban mobility and will contribute fresh ideas and concepts towards making Transport on Demand more efficient and more environmentally friendly. The report’s publication falls ahead of the release of the European Commission’s proposed revision for a new EU Urban Mobility Framework\, scheduled for publication in the coming weeks.\n\nIn the report\, the authors Vassilis Hatzopoulos and Enguerrand Marique examine the status quo of Transport on Demand in the EU and its Member States\, navigating a fragmented regulatory environment and identifying regulatory vacuums while\, at the same time\, highlighting points of convergence and emerging trends. On this basis they put forward recommendations for EU policymakers to enhance urban mobility in the EU.\n\nFollowing a presentation of the report and its recommendations by the authors\, CERRE Director General Bruno Liebhaberg will moderate a discussion amongst representatives from both traditional and new forms of mobility\, as well as civil society. Panelists will debate CERRE’s concrete recommendations on the regulation of Transport on Demand in the EU\, paying particular attention to new forms of ride-hailing and discussing the extent to which the regulatory distinction between taxis and new forms of ride-hailing is justified.\n\nThis webinar is free and open to all\, please register here to receive the connection details. If you can’t join us live then the webinar will be available to replay on the CERRE YouTube channel afterwards.\n\nViewers will have the chance to ask questions via Sli.do during the event using the code #CERRETOD.
