During this session, we’ll discuss ways to assess your company’s own executive compensation program through an activist shareholder lens. Many activist investors use compensation issues as a “wedge” to gain the attention of the board and other shareholders in an attempt to promote their business agenda. By understanding their potential views and strategies, you can be proactive about considering potential design changes and building more effective and resilient executive compensation programs.

Even if your company is not the target of an activist investor, conducting a thorough review of your executive compensation programs through this lens should ensure sound governance, motivate the right behavior, create alignment between executive and shareholder interests, and strengthen your programs against unwanted activist shareholder attention.
