Alegria Village
San Mateo, Costa Rica

Alegría Village is an intentional ecovillage located in the hills of San Mateo, Costa Rica, about 1 hour west of San José. Designed around the principles of permaculture and regenerative living, it brings together people who value sustainability, meaningful relationships, and a strong sense of community. 

Today, more than 100 people call Alegría home, including families with young children, retirees, and people of all ages, creating a truly intergenerational community. Both homeowners and long-term renters live in the village, contributing to a diverse and welcoming environment. Residents enjoy private homes while sharing beautifully designed amenities such as a swimming pool, yoga shala, coworking space, community kitchen, organic farm, food forest, and extensive walking trails.

Life at Alegría Village is centered on connection, collaboration, and caring for both people and the land. Residents participate in community events, educational workshops, volunteer opportunities, and social gatherings while helping shape the community through shared governance and resident-led committees. 

Sustainability is woven into daily life through regenerative agriculture, reforestation, composting, and local food production, making Alegría much more than a residential development—it is a thriving neighborhood intentionally designed to foster meaningful relationships, environmental stewardship, and a high quality of life. While residents enjoy the privacy of their own homes, they also value the opportunity to be part of a supportive community where neighbors know one another and work together to create a vibrant place to live.

La Querencia Cohousing
Fresno, California, USA

La Querencia is an established, multigenerational cohousing community in northeast Fresno, California. We have 28 privately owned homes, along with a large common house, gardens, play areas, a pool, workshop, gym, and other shared spaces. Our residents include families with about 15 children, older adults, and people at every stage in between. We also come from many different backgrounds and walks of life, with a range of identities, orientations, and neurotypes. La Querencia was founded by a group of friends, and friendship is a deeply held value for us. We are also among the most affordable cohousing communities in North America.

Treehouse Village Ecohousing
Nova Scotia, Canada

Treehouse Village Ecohousing is a diverse intergenerational cohousing community of 30-households located in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada. They welcome people of all races, cultures, family structures, and 2SLGBTQIA+ identities. Their homes are climate resilient, designed to passive house standards. They operate as a condo, with low fees that include electricity, water, and high speed Internet.
