    Makes about 2 fl oz (60 ml) · Beginner · 10 minutes

    - 1 fl oz (30 ml) Aloe Vera Gel
    - 1 fl oz (30 ml) Catnip Hydrosol (Nepeta cataria) — featured
    - 4 drops Plai Essential Oil (Zingiber cassumunar) — featured
    - 2 drops Lavender Essential Oil (Lavandula angustifolia)
    - 24 drops Solubol dispersant (4:1 to the 6 drops of essential oil)
    - Optional cooling whisper: 2 to 3 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (Mentha x piperita), adults only, off the face, skip for kids; add 8 to 12 more drops Solubol

    Blend the oils into the Solubol first, stir into the aloe and hydrosol, cap, shake, and label with the name and date. Store it cool; the fridge adds an extra layer of relief.

    Some essential oils and sunshine need a little space between them. A handful of cold-pressed citrus oils contain compounds that make skin extra reactive to UV light, and the result can be an exaggerated burn from sun exposure in the 12 to 24 hours after they touch sun-bound skin. In Week 3 of our Summer Skin Rescue series, we'll walk through exactly which oils deserve that respect: Bergamot, Lemon, cold-pressed Lime, Grapefruit, and Bitter Orange, and how to enjoy every one of them safely all summer long.

    Then we'll blend the sunny-day answer: a Cooling Summer Body Mist built on two hydrosols instead. The featured star is Lemon Verbena Hydrosol, a bright, under-used aromatic water that gives the mist a summery, citrus-y lift with no citrus essential oil anywhere in the bottle. Peppermint Hydrosol brings the chill, lavender rounds it out, and Solubol blends it all evenly through.

    🧴 The Recipe: Cooling Summer Body Mist
    Makes about 4 fl oz (120 ml) · Beginner · 10 minutes

    - 2 fl oz (60 ml) Peppermint Hydrosol (Mentha x piperita)
    - 2 fl oz (60 ml) Lemon Verbena Hydrosol (Aloysia triphylla) — featured: the bright, summery lift
    - 20 drops Lavender Essential Oil (Lavandula angustifolia)
    - 80 drops Solubol dispersant (the 4:1 partner)

    Add the Solubol and lavender to the bottle first and swirl, then pour in the two hydrosols. Cap and shake. Label with the name and date.

    To use: a cool, refreshing spritz over arms, neck, and shoulders on hot days. Keep it off the face, and skip it for little ones under 5 (that's the peppermint hydrosol talking). Shake before each spritz and store it cool.
